· This is a special polarizing element with low transmission loss, which can achieve a high extinction ratio of 5 x 10^-5 or less.
· Used to execute highly accurate polarization experiments.
· Calcite type used from the visible region to the infrared region and α-BBO crystal type used in the ultraviolet region are also available.
· The Glan-Thompson prism is contained in a metal frame, so no stress will be applied to the element even if the frame is fixed to the holder.
· Two different levels of tolerance range can be selected for the incident angle using the calcite type Glan-Thomson prism.
· A single layer of antireflection film coating has been applied to the surface of the Glan-Thompson prism, achieving high transmittance.
· A Glan-Laser prism, GLPB/GLPC, and a Wollaston prism, WPPB/WPPC, are available for use with high-output lasers.
· If a permissible angle is required, check the specification.
· * The extinction ratio of linearly polarized transmittance light will also change if the incident angle is changed.
· * All light that does not transmit through the Glan-Thompson prism will be absorbed or scattered on the sides of the element.
· * Calcite is a natural crystal, and as such each one has its own individual characteristics with variations in quality.
· * If light enters the polarizing prism at an incidence angle greater than the allowable angle, there may be no light extinction.
· * In addition, the allowable angle central axis depends on the bonding direction of the prism and the wavelength, and may be angled compared to the optical axis of the polarizing prism.
